Our Last Day (Day Ten)

Today has been a very bittersweet day. Its saturday and is our last full day in Belgium and while I know a lot of us are homesick, there is still a big part of us that wish we would never have to leave. Considering that it is Saturday, we had no business appointments, nothing on our schedule and the entire day was just one big block of free time. So early in the morning at breakfast, our group got together to decide what we wanted to do on our last day in the beautiful city of Brussels. The first thing we decided was to go back to Chocopolis where we were the day before so the remainder of the group could go back and get all the chocolate they would need.

After our chocolate shopping, we also needed to pick up whatever souvenirs we needed to bring back, I for one had not bought anything for the folks back home and had to pick up quite a few things from the souvenir shop and nearly buy out their entire store. I bought a plate for my mom, beer-stein for my father, a provocative shot glass for my older brother, a set of Mannikin Pis playing cards for my little brother and a Mannikin Pis corkscrew/bottle opener for my BFF Sammy. Before we left the shop, my friend Jacob bough a kick ass black Belgium drinking team T-shirt and Crista had the insanely awesome idea for everybody to buy one so when we reunite after the trip, we can all wear them and look absolutely bad ass.

Once we ate dinner, part of the group split up and Crista, Tony, Jacob, Jeff and I all decided to go to the automobile museum located next to the EU Parliament. I decided I really needed to go and that long walk would be my punishment for missing that appointment last Monday. So we took to the snowy streets and spent an hour and a half walking to the automobile museum where I got to see the magnificent three arches located right next to the museum.

Once we passed through the arches, AutoWorld was right past. This two story museum contains cars from around the world dating back to the horse drawn stagecoaches from the late 19th century up until the modern era.

Once we finished our tour of AutoWorld, we took the long walk back to the hotel where we met up with the rest of the group and had our final dinner together. After dinner, some decided they wanted to pull an all nighter and head to the club since we had to leave the hotel at 6:00am but I decided that little sleep would be better than no sleep and went back to write this final blog post and head to bed.
