Today isn’t a typical Friday.
Today there isn’t the cliched musings with fellow coworkers of it finally being the end of the work week or mid afternoon daydreaming of what’s in store for the weekend. Today doesn’t include the countdown of the number of hours left to go home or the weekly ritual of winding down after a long week filled with corporate stress or financial analysis.
Today isn’t a typical Friday.
Today is a day that is nearly three years in the making; starting with a mere passing glance and followed up by a simple “hello.” Today is a summation of a courtship that spans two continents, numerous domestic cities and an overwhelming amount of pasta consumption. Today is a day when the love that two people share will be celebrated with close friends and even closer families.
Today I marry my best friend.
Today is the beginning of a new life together; one that will undoubtedly see its highs and lows, bumps in the road and euphoric bliss. Today I formalize a commitment to the one person with whom I share my deepest desires, anxieties, vulnerabilities and unrelenting love. Today is just the beginning.
See you at the end of the aisle, my love.
Today isn’t a typical Friday.
