Our first night onboard our 20 person ship was one of legend…meaning we ended up flailing around every inch of our room. We spent that night navigating south from the island of Santa Cruz to that of Floreana and the seas were rough enough to make one with the strongest of stomachs whimper.

Our morning hike started on the northern side of Floreana, where we encountered a wonderful lake where bright pink flamingos were busy feeding and making their nests.

On our way back, we got an even better treat, our very first Blue Footed Booby sighting!

After our late morning snorkel excursion (sorry no underwater camera shots), we moved to the east side of Floreana to Post Office Bay which is home to a wood barrel Post Office box that was used by whalers and pirates back to the 19th century. It’s an unmanned box and no stamps are required. Instead, visitors become the mail carriers and take back the mail that happens to be going with them on their next stop. Unfortunately, there was no mail addressed to the greater Omaha area, so we came back empty handed.
