It’s been a long road…

…getting from there to here 🎶

Apologies, I’ve spent the past year of lockdown going through old Star Trek series and I’m almost finished with Enterprise and the theme is too darn catchy.

And taking care of this little guy. Here he is on this 10th birthday a few weeks ago!

To say that the last year or so has been stressful, would be the understatement of the century, as I’m sure many of you can relate. Between the lockdowns, the constant worrying of what’s to come or wondering if that lingering cough could be something more serious is enough for even the sanest of people to teeter on the edge of madness. Which is the only way to explain why I now live in Texas.

The only state I know that has a fetish with it’s own outline

With everything going on and the world in a constant state of fear and disorientation, Lauren and I were questioning our ability to get out of the country and continue our global exploration. After three postponements, five destination changes and diligently reading covid travel procedures, we were finally successful. Our destination? Seychelles.

The pandemic has made international travel a feat of endurance to say the least with vaccination records, itineraries, hotel accommodations, negative PCR tests all required to be summoned to the powers at be and mask mandates from point A to Z, being just a few of the things to manage through. But with our papers in order, certificates in hand, and passports stamped, we entered the country without a hitch through the Mahe airport on Saturday, June 19.

For those of you not familiar, Seychelles is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean northeast of Madagascar with a little over 80k people in total. The country is considered part of Africa and has been influenced by many different cultures over the years including French, British and Indian leading to a diverse culinary tradition and the genesis of their native language Kreol.

Oh and their beaches are pretty good too.

This trip is a bit different than others we’ve taken in the past where we really don’t have a set itinerary and excursions everyday for the next two weeks. Instead we have a rough idea and everything else is really made up on the fly. We wanted this vacation to be simple and relaxing without the need of schedules and deadlines since that’s all we’ve done for the past two years or so. Because of that my posts will also not have a set schedule but will keep you up to date as the trip progresses!

🎶 I’m goin’ where my heart will take me 🎶
